MACs or LTs

I have a stock 2000 A4 and plan on get a good cam 224 114 or something similar along w/doing all the bolt ons incl. LT headers. Now a friend is not going to use MACs w/orp that he ordered and is willing to sell them for a good price. Now the question is, what doors will I be closing if I go w/mid lengths compared w/LTs

I think MACs are less likely to have clearance issues.. but I still want LTs on my car.

I talked to a guy last week who has helped install both SLP's long tube and MAC. He said the MAC's where alot easier to install but you may sacrafice a few hp with them. If your looking for every last pony, don't mind doing something that may be a little harder, or may be a little more expensive then long tube are the way to go. I have heard several people that where very happy with the MAC setup and I am currently thinking of them for mine. If you don't want them and hes making a good deal, IM me and maybe you can make a few bucks off being the middle man.

Thumbs up

I am very satisfied with my MACs, especially for the price. Make sure you clean up the welds, do the collector mod and DO NOT use MAC's cats. You will only lose a few HP compared to the LTs and the install is pretty easy.

Thanks for the replies. What do you mean by "the collector mod"?

If your on a budget go with the macs, if your looking to squeeze out every last horsepower than go with hookers or a similar lt. You'll probably only pick up 5hp if that with lts vs macs.

The "collector mod" is getting rid of the ball-flange and welding in a Flowmaster collector. Not a must do cahange, but every pony counts. I reused my stock manifold bolts, but many people use the Stage 8 locking bolts. Good luck and let me know if you need any install tips. Ben

I installed MACs yesterday on my car with a buddy, and it took us 7 hours. It went pretty smooth, but the passenger side header is a PITA to get in. We had to remove the STB, coil packs(pass side), and remove the tranny mount bolts so we could pry the tranny/engine over about a 1/2". And with a ton of hammering on the header with a rubber mallet, we finally got the header in.

After that, everything else was pretty easy. I love the sound and all, but we're in a blizzard at the moment, so the car's still living in the garage

BTW, I also have dual cutouts for that true duals thing when I feel like it
