Locking gas cap for 98's

I have read a few threads saying one was not available for the 98's cause GM had some problems with the gas tank manufacturer. I found one at Auto zone it is part # 5504 and made by Cooling Systems Technologies. It was only $9.99. I have looked for months for something that will fit. The only thing I had to do is remove the ring that holds the cap when you are filling up. HTH

I bought a 99 Stant cap for my 98 and made it work like it should by just cutting the right amount off of those things that stick out of the side.

Yea, I realized how bad that sounded when I wrote it. Theres these two plastic pieces that stick out of the cylinder part which act like the threads of a screw for putting on the gas cap. They are shaped like the letter U only there is also a line going across the top of the U shape. Cut off the U part of both of those plastic "things" leaving the part that makes up the straight line on the top of it. Now the 99 stant gas cap works just like it would on a 99 Camaro.

I just won a digital camera off ebay and can post pics of my 99 stant gas cap and the 99 stant gas cap I modified if you still don't understand what I mean.(camera won't be here for at least a few days)

I'll have to look into that. I just sold a brand new GM locking gas cap because it didn't fit my car and I didn't want to hack at it to make it fit.
