Question LT1 to LS1 swap

I am thinking about buying a late model LS1 to go into my LT1 equiped 94 Z. Has anyone done the swap? Do you have to fab anything? How much harder is it than putting in another LT1?

I had a friend do this swap and what we figured was get an LS1 BMR k-member with the motor mounts and that's all you'll need...the swap worked out very well...good luck

You'll need a tranny also. There really is no point in doing this swap. Not very bang for the buck!

The LT1 is a stronger more durable motor. Why switch to a stock ls1 in order to pick up 3-5 mph in the 1/4 when he could just mod the motor that is in the car? It is going to cost him alot of money to do this swap when he could be spending that money on upgrades.

LS1's are a hell of alot easier to work on, lighter motor, no opti, a head and cam LS1 is far more superior than any LT1....generally a much more refined motor...just my opinion

no flaming here

Why not just sell the LT1 and buy an LS1 car?

LT1 more durable then the LS1?......April fools was weeks ago.

Lighter, stronger, 6 bolt main, superior ignition system, alot more horsepower, and torque. Easy to tune, better fit between the fenders....block is narrow and tall. Took half as long to install long tube headers. Superior flowing heads, higher compression, more aggressive camshaft....do I have to keep going????
