Lightbulb Lt1 gas mileage and fuel requirements

Hey guys i know this stuff is on here somewhere but i really dont have alot of time online to look, im lookin at a 01 trans am with 65k on it, i just want to know what mpg they get on average and if i HAVE to rin premium fuel or can i get away with 89. thanks guys

you can run mid. just listen for any pinging or knocking in the motor when getting on it. if none is there go ahead

mileage will depend on transmission and rear gears, and mods.

but expect 27-30mpg highway with the 6speed
maybe just a few less with the auto

i think you going to lose mpg's by running 89 octane. I do when i dont put 93 in my car.

Sorry about that i meant ls1, its stock besides the flowmaster muffler, im lookin to trade my jeep for it, it it'll make a difference in my wallet ya know

If you can keep your foot out of it you will have no problem staying about 18mpg in the city and over 26 hwy I've averaged as high as 33mpg in the formula on a trip from Tulsa to California.

It should be night and day from the Jeep.

Also don't sweat the octane thing. 93 is typically about .30 more per gallon. Thats about any extra $4.00 a tank. The chance of detonation on hot days and the loss in mileage if timing gets pulled is not really worth $4.00 to me.

I'm getting around 22.5 MPG with my LS1 auto and mild driving.
