Question LT Headers, Noise, Slow

I have an 02 SS and last week I put in some Pacesetter LT's with there off road Y-pipe and now the car feels like it isn't pulling as hard as it did before the install. Is it common to lose a little down low with the LT's? Also I don't know if its because I am running no cats but they sound noisy, not raspy but just noisy everything is tight, but it just sounds like things are banging around under the car. Just curious if anyone else experienced what I am talking about with there car.

Re: LT Headers, Noise, Slow

yeah your motor wont feel at torquey with the lts because LS1s like backpresure... but you should feel the gain in the upper rpms

The banging noise may be from when your engine torques up the headers don't have enough clearance so they will knock a little bit but poly motor mounts will cure the banging.

well...you don't neccessarily NEED either of those. look to see if the headers are hitting anything, or if the ypipe is.

you'll know it if they are hitting...it will be like someone is pounding on the underside of the car really fast. and it should go away when you are idling or just maintaining a speed...ie.. not putting much strain on the motor.

there should still be a noticable power gain even without the tune. lots of dynos have shown a solid 15hp untuned from headers.

No engine LIKES backpressure, btw.

umm the ls1 seems to... it gives it more torque when you have backpressure

You're telling me I'll have more torque with shorty headers and 2.5" exhaust and a stock muffler? I'm not buying it

edit: not trying to be an a$$, just stating an example

Re: LT Headers, Noise, Slow

i guess you all are right, but i remember i was talking to kraest and i asked him why his torque numbers were kinda low and he said because he had 1 7/8inch primaries which means less backpreasure

i assumed this to be true, my B

and i honestly have no personal expieience, my bad
