LS6 to LS1 intake manifold swap...

Can someone tell me if swapping my LS6 intake on my 2002 Z28 to my LS1 intake off my 1999 C5 will set any codes on the '02? I know going from the LS1 to the LS6 on the vette is ok, but I was a little unsure on going backwards on the Z28.

Thanks in advance!

C5 is getting the LS6 intake...

that is, assuming the Z28 can take the swap.

It seems to me that it would be much easier and smarter to leave the ls6 intake manifold on the z28 and buying a new one for the vette. It will be 1/2 the time, you won't lose power on the z, and ls6 intake manifolds aren't that expensive.

better yet get the C5R intake, I was told it flows more than both regular ls1/ls6 intakes? My buddy just got a c5r intake whe're doing cam/intake & lots of other things

I don't know much about how intakes are measured, is it how many cfm they handle? How much better is the LS6 intake than the LS1?

Where can you get a C5R intake? And would it work on a camaro?

the only thing that could cause problems is if the LS1 intake had EGR, but the Vette LS1 intake doesn't have that anyway, so you should be ok

Well, the '01 & '02 LS1's are supposed to have the EGR system removed, so that shouldn't be a problem, and otherwise, all the intake does is direct the air into the cylinders (right ), so I don't see how it would set any codes? It's no different than putting a bigger, better flowing throttle body on. I guess the only "difference" will be that it will flow "x" # of cfm less, so the MAFS will sense less air flowing through, but I don't think it'll set a code............could be wrong though.

Capn/rick - thanks for the info guys. The EGR was what I was worried about most. I could see the computer really throwing fits if it was there on one and not the other. It sounds like I'm safe though...
