You might be thinking about the Lingenfelter/Holley LS6 IM. It is an aluminum piece that can be polished and ported to match specific head specs.

Also the Weiand Intake (holley/Lingenfelter) is just that.. a Weiand intake.. It just happens to be an aluminum copy of the ls6 intake

Ummm....then how do you explain the fact that SLP's LS6 intake has provisions for the EGR sensor unlike the GM intake???

"SLP has come up with a solution for the 1998-2000 Camaro/Firebird owner looking for more performance. The high performance LS-6 Intake Manifold is now available from SLP featuring SLP’s exclusive EGR modification, which enables the use of the vehicles stock EGR system."

I just thought since the plastic intake comes from a mold, maybe SLP had their own mold that incorporated the EGR setup into the design. It is possible to "modify" the design of the mold / part so that they wouldn't have to drill holes in an existing GM LS6 intake. I could be wrong...I know I ain't perfect...so get off my nutz.
