Hey guys I found a 2001 Trans Am that is wrecked and they are parting out the motor. If I buy the intake off this from what I understand after 99 they started putting the LS6 intake on the LS1. Would it be the same thing as buying an LS6 intake from like summitt or any other place? Also one more question. I am looking at changing my 2:73 gears to either 3:42 or 3:73 which one would you guys suggest, I am looking to shave some time off my 1/4. And since I have no idea how to do this how much do you think a shop would charge me to replace them? The Gears and Hypertech are I think like $580.00 from thunder racing how much more should I have before I take to the shop to get it done?

I believe it was 2001+ that had the LS6 intake from the factory. It's definitely worthwhile and if you can ****** that one for next to nothing you'll be saving yourself some $. From what I've seen, theyre $450-490 new.

As far as what gear to run.. can't say without knowing what the car is used for and your goals

 

Well the car is going to be a daily during the summer driver but I would like to take it out the track and make some of those mustangs running there nitrous look dumb even with it. Also here soon I will be adding the SLP longtube headers to go with my loudmouth. I am seriously thinking of SLP's Cam and Cylinder Heads too. What gears would you suggest now that you have heard my goals?

 

Get the 3.73s. With 3.73s, Intake, Exhaust, youll be running with the 03 Cobra. Just make sure you get tires to match. Cause if you cant grip youll get whipped.
