LS6-C5R motor?
Contrary to what some believe, the LS-6 block with the new Darton MID sleeves are proving to be just as, if not stronger than the C5-R blocks. The MID process provides better thicknesses between cylinder walls, and better cooling, thus providing better integrity of the block itself. The walls are also thicker than a bored C5-R block. When it comes to stroker kits, LS-1's have the option to go all the way to 454 CI if you like. 427's are readily avalible, and not to uncommon these days. In the end, the Darton MID LS-6 blocks come out around $2500, but you have to have the finishing machine work completed by a competent machine shop. Things like honing, and so forth. You still come out much cheaper than a C5-r block and have enough money left to buy some sweet LS-6 heads. The ZL-1 supercars are nothing speacial. Just a overpriced, slow, concept. 20k for a mid to high 11 sec time slip. Come on.

of them. Nothing special except they were made
to commemerate the 69-1969 COPOs.
Nothing special except they will be the most
valueable/collectable 4th gen.
GMMG didn't really build them for 1/4 mile times,
but collectability. Basicly if its going to break your
bank you weren't the target market.
It really doesn't matter what car your talking
about, you can always build a faster one cheaper at the
cost of realibility and driveability. Cobra R to ZR1.
Its like saying why waste 20 grand on an 02 Fbod
for the LS1, when you could take that and buy a 8
grand LT1, 12K in mods and blow its doors off.
It comes down to how important to place "absolute
speed"
I didn't say I don't think the cars are nice, but if I'm going to spend 20k on a motor option, I prefer to have one that makes some power. Everyone has there own opinion. As far as the rare speculation goes, I'll keep my car. Sure there were more than 69 made, but I only had to pay 28k for mine off the showroom floor.
they were underated by almost 100hp, most put down 600#s at the wheels, and they dyno 700 at the fly. It would cost you about 20k just to reach 600 at the wheels so i dont see why you are useing that as an argument. Factor in that an ls1 motor goes for about 5k new, add heads and cam, thats another 3k depending on price and install, then add a blower if you chose one, thats another 5k, plus install. Add headers, cut out (they came factory with a cutout) forged internals to support the blower, and thats another 3k. So right now were at 18k....and that will prob make just about 500 or so at the wheels. But the car wont be as streetable. I would take a zl1 over a 500hp z28 anyday
Most didnt put down 600 to the rear wheels. There are only a few, like maybe 2 that are close to 600rwhp.
That would be #51 and #69.

You can take a look at some of the ZL1's.
