OK, I got the tools and the time, how do I fix my EGR Valve?

I'm barrowing a torque wrench and his metric socket set, so I can now fix my EGR problem. I don't even know what the problem is, but I know its my EGR valve.

First I want to see if its clogged up. I've been using this web page as a reference for what to do.... http://installuniversity.com/install...r_free_mod.htm

How do I see if its clogged? What part of it will be clogged? The Pipe or the actual Valve? How do I clean it if it is clogged?

I think I might actually do that mod in that page too, mine as well if its free. As long as it won't hurt anything... Anyone know of any problems associated with that mod? Its not going to hurt the EGR system will it?

I just did mine last week following the directions on that web site.It was easy. After I removed the old EGR valve I did notice a little oil at the tip when I tilted it to see if anything would come out,it was just a drop but I think I may go ahead & do the mod when the weather gets a little nicer here since I'll be doing it outside.I hope this helps.By the way,I don't know how many miles are on your car but I have 42,000 mi on mine.Good luck

Ok dude i'm an emissions inspector and you really don't need your egr valve cause all it does it take the unspent fuel from the intake manifold and puts it back into your fuel delivery system. And it don't do much to your HC(HydroCarbon) reading thats mainly your Cat., or your Ignition system.

OK...well....since the last 'ttt', I've given back the torque wrench and neccessary sockets...

But I'm still wanting to do this, so can anybody PLEASE help me? If someone can give me some advice it would be GREATLY appreciated. Its only an EGR Valve, and I know a lot of you know a LOT about LS1's... So I'm sure you could really help me out if you took 2 minutes out of your busy browsing schedule to reply.

I'm going to keep it until I don't need it (when I get the new heads/cam).
