LS6-C5R motor?

Is this motor still being made? I found the block for the 427 ZL1 online, but am currious as to if the whole motor itself is being made. I realize that an LS6 is basically a LS1 with diff intake, heads and cam, but everything else is almost identical, What is the difference between the ls6-c5r and a regual ls6? Other then bigger block, thanks

the C5R is not a production motor but can be bought as a crate motor. The C5R stands for C5(as in corvette) racing if I remember right. It is a block designed to be built into a 427ci motor. it is one very strong block and can handle most anything thrown at it. it is very pricy at around $5000-6000 for just a block. it then should have C5R heads(also pricy) and these heads require a custom intake(a company named Kinsler makes one) all in all a lot of motor and a lot of money

If you look on the sticker on the intake of a zl1 camaro it says LS6-C5R...so i was assumeing that it was in some way related to the LS6.

Yeah thats awefully pricey for just a block Well, once the ls1 takes a poop, i guess i should have enough money by then to drop one in.

Also forgive me if this sounds stupid, but can a LS6 be stroked and bored out to a 427?

I am almost positive that I have seen some kits for the ls1 to make it a 427. I am on a different computer and cant check my favorites though.

Yeah it can be, I dunno about how strong it is but I know there are more than a few kits out there. They also make around 700hp but from the one buildup I've seen in GMHTP you have to have a custom intake, which is about $2,500 to purchase.

Bottom line, unless you're making an all out race car, it'd be better to stick to one of the 382 cid (?) LS1 stroker engines out there. Much cheaper and if you're smart you could pry make it run right with a 427 LS1

Not sure which you and others are referring
to but some of the confusion lies in this.
The 427 Zl1 motor could be bought for some 20+
grand.
When talking about the GMMG Zl1 supercars
only the phase threes have 427's and they
were privately built, GMMG contracted Roberts
Racing, using the C5R block. They are not
building these for Pace to sell. That's not the same
427 C5R but the block is.
The other phases have your standard
LS6 346 with different mods

Click on link it is the air lid of a ZL1 stage 3 camaro. With the 427. It clearly says that it is a c5r ls6
