LS2 "Auto Vs Manual" Big diffrence?
I hurt my knee on a bike a a few months back. And im having just a tad trouble in my current ?? Ummm Carnival car "import" But having trouble with the clutch. Not real bad, just some pain. Im looking at 00 to 02 Based Z28's not the SS But still the Z28 LS1. And its sorta a two part question. One is how much control over the power will I loose in a Automatic. I have never drivin one before. I mean Im not on a big power trip, I get that enough with the dirt bikes lol. But the 310hp LS1 seems like it could proably "guessing?" Pull a mid 14 at least with a Automatic even? Im just looking for good solid power nothing over the top. Just enough to beat up on imports lol. No "joke" but you know what I mean. And I hear the automatic in the 02 was way better than the 01. It cruised nice on gas when drove normal. But had a decent kick when drove a tad agressive.
And also how big of a diffrence is thier between lets say a 00 with 23 thousand miles on it, and a 02 with 45thousand. Around the same price. Would you go wit the 305hp LS1 or 2000 with less miles. Or the 02 With whatever new it has, which is not much I dont think. I think like some new stuff for the power stearing. And little things hear and their.
PS
Yea I may make it real fast one day. But I never say what im gona do before I do it. And Ive been looking at the a lot of cars, like the trans am 01 02, Sorta the same. The ram air woul dbe nice but just tad. And I mean a tad out of my price I want to go. Also the Mustangs GT, For the power thow the 03 and 04 stang have 260hp 4.6L???? Seems like they went weak a sof lateon the GT. 310 Sounds better to me. Plus my dad draged Chevy all his life. And ive been working on this car "whatever it shall be" before I move, for months now. And it comes down to tuesday Im gona start to work with some dealers and others self owners. My brother just sent the moeny he owed me, So its a go now. But I could not find the answer to this one question anywear. About the manual vs Automatic. My price range 20,000 or under. CAR MAX has some sweet ones just on that edge. And if the power in the automatic is a big lose. I will drive a manual despite my knee.
I got a bout a 15.6 "they say" Eclipse GT 2002 Manual and its 0-60 is a bad 6.9. Makes me wounder how it still gets under 16 in a quater? Was my first import. Like the look, dont like the feel and build. And want just a tad more umm solid push.

The automatics are very efficient and camaros and firebirds. I would say that they are EQUAL in performance (1/4, 0-60), but i just find the manual a tiny bit more fun
. mid 14 sec 1/4??? how about low 13, possibly high 12. i would probably go for the 2002 because i believe they have a different intake and maybe a few other things...some else will have to chime in to say for sure though.

LS1 auto and manual are both easily capable of a low 13's stock...have seen a few autos hit 13.0's-13.2's stock...and a few 6spds hit higher 12's...ofcourse the 6spd will trap more but both run pretty similar times...Ls1 is highly underated powerwise..its more around the 350 hp mark..seeing that most dyno in the 300-315 rwhp mark. It will crush a GT...even the 300 hp 05's...thats comming straight from the pages of this months muscle mustang and fast fords . 98-02's perfom similar w/ the 01-02 being a drop faster from mainly the ls6 intake and a slightly more aggresive cam. 01- 02's are the strongest years but only about 5-10 hp more then the 98-00 which can easily be made back from small/free mods.
Re: LS2 "Auto Vs Manual" Big diffrence?
Buy an automatic LS1 and put a 3500-4000 stall torque converter in it. Then put some Drag radials in the back. Hit a Drag strip and hold on. After the first good run you may never want to go back to a manual again.
I don't.
I don't.

Ahh heck, why not just buy one of each. Then the M6 can tow the A3 to the track

Re: LS2 "Auto Vs Manual" Big diffrence?
Thanks, The dealer "I cant bealive this" just got a 02 Z28 SS
For 18.900/19,000 from CARMAX today. Im not sure about car max?? But only about half the cars they buy or get on trade in make it on their lot. So their in perty good shape. With 27k. So im going to try and work on that. Hard thing is my brother's check is still in the mail. And they go off of business days So if someone beats me to that ughhh. Its like the first SS I have seen their. A lot of Z28's but not the full SS version. Intill now. But this one is Manual??? Only bad part for me.
Oh and yea im not looking to do donouts at the local parking lots lol. So if the power is about equal I rather go Auto. Can do the wild stuff on the bikes. I just want some solid heavy power. Which 13sec sounds like it would be vary nice. And was more than I thought, but that is a big major plus. The GT "as was the first aim I was looking at" but when I saw the 260hp. I was like hummm? And if it is not a mach or Cobra, the GT alone will get in the 14's by a hair is what I hear. Not sure why Ford went to a 4.6. When they had the 5.0???? And why they did not just try and keep evolving their 5.0? Yea when I saw 5.7 on the 01 and 02 TA and Z28's, I perty much started finding as much as I could on these. And knew I was proably gona go that way.

This question has been asked like a billion times.. If you have to ask, go with the auto, cause if you knew how much fun a manual can be(especially diving in, thru, and rocketing out of turns), you won't be asking..

But seriously, a 3500+ stalled auto is a ton of fun on the street or at the track. Autos rip out of the whole like nobodies business and can go a long way on the stock 10 bolt. Manuals are fun but the right setup on an auto can be just as fun. Autos are less fun for some but more fun for others.
Re: LS2 "Auto Vs Manual" Big diffrence?
01's and 02's had a slightly "less" aggressive cam than the 98's which had the biggest. But they did have the LS6 intake and are the dyno kings of the LS1's
up to 320whp stock.
My old car was an auto and I would have to say it was a lot better for drag racing but any other thime the manual is soo much more fun.

Basically, the 01-02 got the LQ4 cam. The LQ4 is the 350hp rated 6L. The01-02's got more power from the LS6 intake/larger injectors/and I've read a more agressive factory tune. I have no confirmation of the tune though, but it tends to go with larger injectors and their output.

Where an M6 LS1 shines over A4's is fuel milage and from a roll.
