Are LS1s prone to trouble?

The reason I ask is because it seems all too often that people have had their motors replaced under warranty for whatever reason. A friend of mine had an oil pump go dead on a '00 Z28 and I read about knocks and other things developing to constitute and engine replacement. I am in the market for an LS1 car, should I fear this fate? Is there certain things to look for? Were certain years worse than others? Am I just overly paranoid?

no. But some of the later years have more of a problem (more like an annoyance) then early LS1 years. All cars tend to have problems of some sort or another, thats why there are warranties and recall notices that don't cost you $.
