LS1/ Vortec 5.3

Since I only have a lonley 89 RS here's my question.
Will a LS1/6 intake fit on a 5.3 Vortec truck motor? I know this just sounds really stupid but I was trying to compare the bolt patterns on the Holley LS6 intake in Summit and my stock 5.3 intake(which is made out of some type of polymer plastic!?!?)
Will this swap work, is it even possible? Give me your thoughts here. I know the TB bolt patterns are the same and the MAF is the same for a pickup or z. What sparked this whole thing is that I noticed a MAF sensor in Summit is listed under LS1 PICKUP. This is what is eating my mind and I need to know if the LS1 will fit the Vortec 5.3????? It's a 2000 if it matters. Tried calling summit but was on hold for about 30 min and got really pissed!!!

The truck intake is better for performance but you may have to cut a hole in your hood as the truck intake is much taller. The 5.7 intake should bolt right up. Gonna be a major PITA doing the motor swap in the RS. I would just trade it in for a hi-milage LS1 car and go from there.

LS6 intake on my 5.3 Votec

The motor is in my 2000 GMC and is staying there not going into my RS. phantom why would you say it's not worth the time? The LS6 intake shoulf flow much better the my stock Vortec intake, plus the LS6 can be ported, I would evben dream of trying to port a plastic intake manifold.

But as far as anyone knows it can be done with out any mods to the heads or modifying the bolt patterns/ bolt holes on either the heads or intake? If anyone has heard of this or seen it before chime in. I want to know if it's even worth my time. I am really considering it because I do a lot of heavy pulling and the LS6 should be good for(hoping) another 10-30ft/lbs at the wheels to add to 325ft/lbs. Also from what I've heard the vortec heads flow excellent but the Vortec intake is holding up the vortec motors? May have heard some bad info, who knows, but just looking for some LS1 experience here guys, hoping you can lead me in the right direction

Thanks

Dillon

Thumbs down Re: LS6 intake on my 5.3 Votec

"The LS6 intake should flow much better the my stock Vortec intake"

This is definitely true, but the difference only becomes noticeable above 3500rpm, you want to tow with it? The Vortec manifold has longer runners, and is aimed at maximising low-end torque, admittedly at the expense of the top end performance.

"plus the LS6 can be ported, I would evben dream of trying to port a plastic intake manifold."

The LS6 manifold is a composite, but some have succesfully ported it. If you want one to port, how about this ?

"But as far as anyone knows it can be done with out any mods to the heads or modifying the bolt patterns/ bolt holes on either the heads or intake? If anyone has heard of this or seen it before chime in."

I know that it is possible to put the 5.3 heads on the LS1, so I'd guess that the manifold should fit to the Vortec heads without a problem. The place to ask is probably here
