Ls1 Verses Lt1

Looking into buying a camaro or similar. I want to know which motor has stronger internals. I am looking into spraying this car, and need to know which motor has stronger internals/handles nitrous better.

LS1 has the stronger internals, and I'm not being biased. I'm being realistic.

I would think the LT1 would be able to handle more with the cast iron block, but I may be wrong.

If your looking for stronger engine lt1 by far, you can spray the hell out of it, For stock vs stock ls1 has better top end, Ive seen 300 shot on lt1 and still running to this day. Ls1s Ive seen burn rings with 200 to 250 shot. I have had both so I know...I have not put a cam in the car yet but im making over 300 plus with just bolt ons and 4.11s .. you loose horses when putting gears on I had dyno before and after lost 10 exactly to hp and torque. Lt1s have very good low end and with the right combo good top end. Try weight reduction also it will be very beneficial especially with all that low end torque...

Lots say the LT1 is stronger simply because it has an iron block. Although I do not know wich one is stronger for fact, it is a fact that LT1s have a two bolt main and LS1s have a 6 bolt main.

Good info. I didnt know they had 6 bolts. Anyway I dont think anyone has proven that a aluminum block is liability Vs the iron block.

In reality, the 6-bolt in aluminum isn't much stronger than the 2-bolt in iron. Having said that, LS1s LOVE nitrous. A 150 wet-shot on a STOCK LS1 will put down around 450rwhp all day and will be stone-reliable with a good tune and good gas.

Do a search.

That said, the LS1 has better bottom end than an LT1 too. It isn't just top end as stated above. They both can live on spray. It always depends on how it is set up. You run either lean and you'll have problems. Keep it fat and it'll be ok. There are several stock short block LS1's running 11's and even running 10's on spray. They'll take quite a bit.

The question is, do you want to start w/20-30 more HP and Tq stock or lower initial cost?

Yeah i think the LS1 is similar in strength to a 2 bolt main LT1, But a 4 bolt main LT4 i believe would defininetly hold up to more punishment/nitrous. But the LS1 is a more powerful motor, and with just a cam and stall, it can make a LT1 look like a stang, which pisses me off cause i have a LT1.

Re: Ls1 Verses Lt1

I personally know a couple people who have sprayed 175-200 shots on a basically stock LS1. Would I do it? Probably not. However, these guys are doing it pretty reliably. It is all in the fuel and tune...

Both of the stock blocks/internals can handle heads/cam/nitrous.

I wouldn't determine which one to buy by finding out which one you can put the most nitrous on... that's a little bit ricer-ish to me

The LS1 is stronger regardless of being aluminum. You will also be starting 40-50rwhp ahead of the game with an LS1. My friend has the hotcam, longtubes, etc. and has been spraying a 150 shot almost daily for years without a problem.
