LS1 Valve tap

I am looking at a 98 Z28 for a friend who is in Iraq right now. The seller told me it has a slight valve tap though. What are your opinions on buying this and what causes a valve to tap? I know the valve covers need to come off and normally something needs to be adjusted but I am not sure what it is. Thanks guys!!!

Re: LS1 Valve tap

These engines have non-adjustable rockers. It's probably a bent pushrod which "could" mean abuse or just a miss shift.
To be safe you should take it to a shop and pay for a detailed inspection.

Ok thanks... I will probably just stay away from the car then. He was choosing between that and a 97 SS 30th ann.
