LS1 valve spring I.D.

I may be inheriting a used set of LS1 valve springs for free, and I'm thinking about trying to make them work on my Caprice. Comp just came out with a set of beehive valve springs but they're too expensive to justify (versus a new stock set, or the like). I know LS1 springs are the beehive type.

What is the inner diameter of the top (smaller) part of the spring? Comp makes a set of retainers designed to be used with their new springs and the non-metric older style valve, as well as the older style keepers. It is my intent to find out if I can use this retainer, or if I have to figure out something else (like stock LS1 retainers with my regular SBC keepers, or try aftermarket keepers). I can tolerate a ~0.1 inch decrease in installed height, and that might be desired given the LS1 springs' low seat pressure, and my heavier valvetrain.

Thanks.
