This was done on the german autobahn. 170 was pretty easy to hit on the flat also, it was just dificult to find a good clear bit of road to wind the car up that much.
im jeoulous everytime i go 15 miles over the limit im terrified....

I just purchased some Kuhmo 711's for my rear (245/50/16) and they're H rated. I noticed that on the freeway I've lost major pulling power. before I switched to the H rated tires I had some Z rated Kuhmo's and the Z rated ones allowed me to pull pretty hard on the freeway. Is this normal for the H rated tires to do this or is something just wrong with my car? I just purchased the car about two months ago and I haven't had $$ to buy rims yet.

Hmmm.....when I maxed out my car I hit some kind of limiter at 5500 in 5th. Speedo was obviously pinned. Only had a lid/catback at the time.

5500 rpms, 3.42 gears, stock 16" rims with eagle f1s

I dunno what that equates to? What limiter would I be hitting? I can't imagine it was 162? But the speedo was pinned for a good 15 seconds and the rpms were still climing.

when my friend ordered his 98 SS, the dealer wouldn't let him have it when it got there because they said that they forgot to put the speed limiter on the PCM so they had to send it back and now it shuts off at like 160 or whatever

Tires have nothing to do with pulling power, unless your going slow and burning out vs drag slicks.

I maxed mine out a while back... the needle was well past the #'s and then hit the plastic well after 150mph. Of course I still haven't gotten my speedo recalibrated so it's 6% off, but I'm guessing around 160.

A stock LS1 has almost the same top spped as a stock LT1 due to drag among other things. But either stock won't do over 165mph.

Even with bolt-ons and other small mods top speed doesn't change a whole lot maybe 2-5mph. It takes major HP increases to see a whole lot of change.

Remember the LT1 Firebird had a 2-3 MPH top speed advantage over the Camaro, because of aero. A stock LT1 Camaro I dont believe would ever see over 157, so I fully believe the LS1 is faster in every respect, and is aerodynamically superior thanks to getting rid of that headlight recession.

with just the few mods that i did i had my needle pegged (155) and the car kept accelerating and i calculated the amount of rpms it went past the 155 mark to be an extra 8 mph or so, so basically my car was at about 163 at top speed.
