LS1 swap question

Lately I've come accross a 2002 Firebird with an LS1/A4 combo with 27k on it for cheap. I'm planning on swapping the LS1 into my 94 Camaro when I install the 98+ front clip.

My question is... Where is the fuel pressure regulator?? I only see one line going to the fuel rail. Is it in the fuel tank? Is the LS1 fuel tank different than the LT1 tank? That suck if it is because the back of my parts car was torched by the punks that stold it (it's a theft recovery)

I see no real reason why you shouldn't be able to run an after market regulator. You'd need to tap into the fuel rail for the return line.

im considerin the same swap except into my 94 Z, i have the whole front cradle and suspention, computer, wiring harness, and motor. i know ill need to buy a tranny and now i guess a LS1 tank or a external regulator. do you have a site or does anyone know of a site that has more information on this?

#1 I don't care for firebirds.
#2 It's a theft recovery and after the punks had fun with it and put it in a ditch they tried to burn it. From the rear quarters back it's gutted rusty sheatmetal. Odly the front of the car is untouched.

I already have an LT! that runs 12.90s with just bolt on's. It would cost me a furtune in time and money to de mod the car and sell it. The LS1 was just an idea I've been kicking around if the price was right. I might be able to get the whole car for 3k, that sounds like the right price to me.

To do a transplant swap successfully yourself you need to be a mechanic, a fabricator, a troubleshooter, and very patient. If you aren't all of these then frustration will kill you and the project.
If you have these abilities and the time you'll be rewarded with a great experience.
If you don't have these abilities then pass on this wreck and by a high mileage LS1 Z28 for just a little more money and fix it up as you go. A friend of mine bought a high mileage 98 Formula that needed a little TLC which he's been applying for the last 8 or nine months. The car is really looking good and with a few (shorty headers and a lid) boltons is running 13 flat at 109mph in the 1/4.
