LS1 swap

Hey guys I have a 94 Z28 with an LT1 with a couple mods but I recently spun a rod bearing so I started saving up to build a 383 stroker, but my dad just got ran off the road the other day in his 2000 SS Convertible and totaled it so hes thinking about letting me swap everything into my car, what all do I need to complete the swap, I have a perfect donor car, everything i need is there, please help let me know what I need to pull from the SS and put in my Z, also if anyone knows of a low mileage LS1 SS please let me know my dads looking for another

Re: LS1 swap

Basically, you need the engine-trans-harness-computer. and likely the guages, and umm maybe the fuel pump/sender?

also the fuel lines ( and maybe brake lines) are probably different, and I dont know about the brake master and abs/tcs. Does either car have traction control? you may need the rearend from the '00 as well.

to do it 100% right, I'd swap everything under the hood, the whole wiring harness, dash, drivetrain (including rearend), and fuel system. I'd steal the suspention stuff (F spindles) and F+R brakes too .

Re: LS1 swap

remember, it wont technically fit. there is an issue with clearance between tb and hood. as well as intake, if you go with the ls1 style intake. your best bet is probably some custom hood

Re: LS1 swap

ALOT OF TIME AND PATIENCE!

Basically to make it easiest let's just say, EVERYTHING!

Larger gas tank in LS cars, swap it too.

Different K-member also.

Put bolts back in holes after removing parts whenever possible or in ziploc bags with labels when necessary.

Take lots of pictures where lines and wires are routed, and connectors ( trust me on this one )

I swapped the entire interior, body harness and all. I like the 97-up interior better.

LS cars had better brake sys as well. I just swapped the whole rear axle at the same time as the gas tank. Got the spindles too.
You will have to swap the fuel lines, brake lines are right there and the ABS unit comes out easily.

A/C condenser has a diff conn. You can reuse your radiator/fans though.

Fortunately alot of the holes are in the same places.

To avoid hood clearance you can reposition the ABS module(fab a new bracket) and move the fuse/relay block and use the LT1 intake. I had another solution.
