LS1 sleeper cam
LS1 sleeper cam
Looking to upgrade from my ls6 cam that's in my '98 Z now. What cam does everyone recommend that has almost no lobe but makes significantly more power than the ls6? I heard the GT2+3 cam is a good sleeper cam form lpe. let me know what you think
http://www.vincihighperformance.com/...AGE%20LS1.HTML the ultra torque 047 is what roger vinci put in his test corvette. made a huge difference in torque seen here : test 5 http://www.vincihighperformance.com/...ARPARENT2.HTML
i'll be testing the the ultra torque 055 after they put thier heads on and testing is done with those.

Hey mrr23 that is a very intresting web site, I have never heard of them untill now. I really like some of the grinds they have come up with, and I like the info provided with each cam and the fact that they are realistic about each cam and not trying to put huge HP#'s by offering a cam that is prolly too big to run in a daily driver but makes big HP wayyyy up top and nothing on the bottom- mid range, many companys have been playing that game....huge friggen cam with high HP#'s to lure people into buying one and then they wonder why the car runs like **** and they don't get 450hp on stock heads like advertised
HC/LS6Z why do you need such a sleeper cam?? Thunder Racing has a very popular 224 cam a bunch of people are running and getting good #'s from, but it does have some lope to it even on a 114LSA

the invincible 591 is one they make that's real close to the TR224 cam. joe vinci installed it into his 98 z28 it has a noticable idle and needed some tuning to get it to run. vinci has been around for over 36 years. they have been doing R&D with crane for years. you call crane about a LS1/6 they'll tell you to call vinci. right now they are helping crane develop hand held programmers of the ls1 cars and trucks.
they are using my car also for a test bed. http://www.stealthram.com/99formulatimeslip.html next up for me is their heads with 2.02/1.60 valves. then their converter. next cam.
vinci builds designs their products around torque, not horsepower. which is why most boards you visit and type in vinci they complain that vinci makes such low hp numbers. but such high tq numbers. look at the link to the corvette. you'll see that cam made lots of torque at low rpms. that's what moves you. the last corvette they campained ran in the 9's . joe just installed his 409 motor. waiting on tranny.

I don't mind a little lobe, but I'm strying to keep this car as streetable as possible for a heads and cam car. I had the huge GTP cam in before the ls6 and that thing was freaking riduculous! It was like 598/590 and it made great power up top, but sucked in terms of daily driving
Sweet!! Man it's kinda hard to believe i've never heard of them, I am a few other f-body sites and I read the crap outta them....but have never came across them
Are they a sponcer on any sites??

they are a sponsor over at www.ls1tech.com make sure to look over the wife's car and all of their products we've installed and dyno'ed. you'll also want to get their 1.89 accelerated lift rocker kit and dual spring kit if you haven't already gotten something similiar. the DYNO HP and DYNO TQ shows the gain on those 2 pieces.
