Re: LS1 Problems?

It varies from person to person and depending on year. I know of the oil burning problem, and of the fix. As for the less than ideal oil pump, that can be argumentitive. The "re-ported" oil pumps definetly pump out more PSI, but I'm not sure why people wanted that. I guess when they start getting blow by or seals failing they'll figure it out. As for the weak rear ends, I'm swapping my stock torsen for a T2R. So I can agree with that. The slave cylinder comment is probably referring to the "drill Mod" that will help with high rpm shifting.

I can't say I agree with that either. But I will tell you, being a passenger in my car was no fun. The passenger seat is almost level with the floor and has no arch support. Not a problem on the driver side with power tilt option.

Re: LS1 Problems?

the drill mod is different from the slave cylinder issue.

GM reccomends upgrading the 98-00 slaves to the 01+ design. not sure what it was exactly that was upgraded, or what problems the old design involved. but it is worth changing if you have the clutch out.

the drill mod is more involving the mastercylinder

My mistake, you are correct. But upgrading to an 01+ design is not much help either. They still have the restrictive o-ring in there. I haven't done mine. I've heard people swear at it and swear by it, not sure which way to go.

So I had a dual friction clutch install with a 12 lb. Fidanza Aluminum Flywheel. I'm pretty happy with the way it shifts now.
