LS1 Number

My buddy is buying a 99 Trans Am, he was asking the dealer about the engine in the car and all they could tell him was a number (982391420) they couldn't tell him anything about it though so i decided to give it a shot here. Let me know if you have any info on the engine number

There are a few minor differences in cam, injectors, valve covers etc, nothing noticable with those. The only real difference was 01-02 LS1's cam with a LS6 intake manifold and no EGR from the factory.

If i'm not mistaken 98-00 had a slightly larger cam, smaller injectors and 01-02 had a smaller cam larger injector and LS6 intake manifold.

1998 - 2000 Fbody
202/210 int/exh @ 0.05" duration
0.496" / 0.496" int/exh lift
116 LSA

2001 - 2002 Fbody
197/207 int/exh @ 0.05" duration
0.467" / 0.479" int/exh lift
116 LSA

(specs from http://www.smokemup.com/tech/ls1.php)

Although, the LS6 intake on the 01-02 more then made up for that difference. Basically a wash... but who keeps them stock anyhow.
