my buddy has a 1998 chevy camaro Z28 V8 LS1, all he has is a cold air intake and I've never owned one, I've got a LT1, and he asked me if I knew the problem to his situation and I said I'll find out. This is his situation, he was driving down the road (about 2 miles) (cool motor before he drove it) and he said he looked at his control panel and nothing was working so he pulled over and shut it down. Then after he tried to restart it, it won't start. The batteries new and is working. It also cranks he said but it won't fire. I'm going to his house after work to figure it out but I wanna get some ideas on what to look for. I mean it could be something to due with the ignition, I'll check all the spark plug wires to see if any are burnt. If you could help I would really appreciate it. The only reason I'm helping him is because he wants to sell it and I don't want him to because I like beating him with my car lol

 

If your car is beating him with the mods in your sig, he has more problems than it just not starting!

Seriously, though, go through the big 3 - air, fuel, and spark. Make sure the fuel pump is coming on - you should be able to hear it when you key it from off to on without starting it - it will run for a second or two.

well I've got more hp than him the stock ls1 has 305 and LT1 has 275 stock he's not puttin that much hp out than me. But I'm not worried about that prolly after this he will beat me. I'll check that out. I'm thinkin something could be clooged. I'll let you know what happens tonight. Thanks for the help

Check fuses.

Edit: Check the GAUGES fuse inside the car. On mine it controls the BCM, BTSI, instrument cluster and DRL module.

thanks a lot guys. That gauge fuse was the problem with his car. That's weird that one fuse like that controls the car. Least it's not a 260 dollar fix like my LT-1 with the stupid opti-spark. I can not stand that GM made a stupid part like that. And they are selling the part for 400 you would think that it would be cheap but anyways thank you guys for your help I really appreciate that

 

Glad that was it, but why did it blow? Tell him to keep some extras in the glove box just in case, so he doesn't get stranded somewhere.

 

yea idk why it blew but I put a 15a which it wants a 10a in it but it's not gonna hurt it. I told him to put a 10 in it once he goes to the hardware or walmart. It's creazy how they have that control the car. but I mean these are really really nice cars and good motors

 

Actually, the stock LS1 in any platform (98-02 Camaro, Firebird, 04 GTO, 97-2004 Corvette) has 345-350 horsepower, the same as the Corvette, but GM didn't want to **** on the Corvette's fame.
