Are the LS1/LS6 block's rebuildable?

I'm just curious, as I've never owned one, or rebuilt one. When it's time to rebuild your LS1/LS6 engine, what happens to the block? Can they be bored? How much can they be bored, if at all? Do you have to find another block if you rebuild one of these? Is it possible to resleeve them somehow, and if so, is this common pratice? Thanks guys.

They can DEFINITELY be re-sleeved.....that's how they build those giant 427 - 454 "LS1" engines! (big bore, along with long stroke).

I believe that the stock sleeves can be bored out, but I think the amount of over-bore is more limited than an old SBC. I *think* (but don't quote me, please!) that .030" may be the limit of an over-bore? Not like a SBC that can be taken to .060".

98 blocks can be bored .005"
99 and up LS1/6 can be bored .010"

A serious rebuild willl call for resleeving.

Can you get pistons in oversizes this small?

How much does resleeving typically cost?

You can get piston any size that you wish to pay for But I don't know if they are a shelf item or not, sorry

Never had it done so I can't help with that either. Get a hold of Thunder, APE, or one of our other supporting vendors for pricing.
