The LS6 is basically an LS1 with heads and cam. I realize that is an oversimplification but it's true. LS6 heads outflow LS1 heads and the LS6 cam is bigger than the LS1 cam. The LS6 intake also outflows the LS1 intake. Parts between the two engines are interchangeable.

The intake is the same on an LS1/LS6 from 2001 and up. Pre-2001 used a different intake on the LS1. Gold Z is right though, the major differences are the heads and cam, but if you're planning on tearing apart the motor to stroke it, etc., then you probably wouldn't use the stock cam anyways, and you'd probably get the heads P&P'd so it wouldn't make a huge difference which ones you had either (or you may go aftermarket?).

There is only 1 other slight difference, and that's the block. The LS6 block is supposedly cast a little different, with different passages inside that are supposed to reduce the crank windage or something like that, but I don't think it's going to make a night and day difference in power.

If you started with an LS1 engine, and built it up like you're talking, I don't think you'd make any less power than if you started with the LS6. Like I said, if you're going with all aftermarket pieces anyways, the only real difference is going to be the block, which really doesn't matter.

ls6 heads flow better and will make more power NA or with FI.

you might want to ask in the FI sec. here and try some other boards.theres guys that really know their stuff when it comes to running boost.
