LS1 to LS6???
The LS1 and LS6 are two different engine blocks. The differences are minor but are there nonetheless(LS6 has a better crankcase ventilation system). That being said 25% of the 01-02 F-bods received the LS6 block. Companies sell LS1 to LS6 conversion kits but without the block you will not have a true "LS6". These kits include an LS6 heads, cam, springs plus req. gaskets. Oddly enough the block does not make that big a difference as the kits put down rwhp numbers as good as or better that Z06s.

Basically all you need are the heads, cam, and intake (since you have a pre-2001 F-body LS1 which doesn't already have the LS6 intake). IMO, the block shouldn't make much of a difference
. Maybe there is some truth behind what "danno" said about the crankcase venting of the LS6 block, but if you did a mild porting/polishing of the heads, I'm sure you could make up for whatever "loss" there would be using an LS1 block instead of the LS6 block
. Otherwise, it should be a pretty simple heads/cam swap and voila!..........you'll have a ~405HP LS6 engine in your car!

too bad it says that it is an off road kit
U just cant seem to find and emissions legal build up kit for ls-1's. I would love to turn my SS into a ZO6 SS.
But if i cant pass **** Mass state emissions there is no point

what do you guys think about the ls6 package compared to other heads cam in that price range. Do you think it would be good idea to go with a packaged set like this or are there other cams heads that will give better gains while still being streetable.
personally...if i wanted to get close to a 400 flywheel hp car, i wouldn't get that package.
the ls6 heads aren't such a bad thing. getting a set of assembled ls6 heads shouldn't cost more than around....1300 dollars? that's what i'm guessing...
and then, do some cam searching...there are plenty of cams you can get that are streetable, and with tuning will pass emissions testing. and quite a few of those are better performers than the ls6 cam. and the cam itself would probably cost you another 300-400 depending...
so that's around 1700.
i guess it's just up to what you feel like doing...i wouldn't spend money on the ls6 cam...however, i would spend money on the heads, though, because porting and polishing ls6 heads can yield a better flow than p&p ls1 heads. just in case, in the future, you wanted to upgrade your heads.
