LS1, LS2 and LS6 differences????
LS1, LS2 and LS6 differences????
Im still learning the Gen III motors, LS1 and etc. I believe that the LS6 has a bigger cam and bigger ports or valves on the heads. Possibly the intake is bigger as well - From my knowledge so far.
My main question is what is the difference? I have heard of LS1 and LS6, but LS2? What is the LS2?
Do all LS# motors have the 6 bolt mains on the crank?
What cars have the LS6 motor? What cars have the LS2 motor?

LS2-Standard C6 engine, now also in the GTOs, SSR, H2, and 2006 Trail Blazer SS.
I probably missed a couple too.

(I heard H2, but not sure)

pre-'05 CTS-Vs
LS7
C6 Z06 (so far...)

Re: LS1, LS2 and LS6 differences????
I forgot about LS7, I read an article about that in some car mag. 427 cube small block in the C7.
How many cubes are the LS2 and LS4? And their power output?

I'm pretty sure CTS-V's never came with LS1's, just LS6's and now LS2's

. It's going to be the engine for the new Z06s.LS2 is 364 cubic inches and is rated at 400hp on the Corvette.
LS4 is in going in the 2005 Grand Prix GXP.
(LS4) Engineered specifically for front-drive layouts, the 5300 V-8 produces an estimated 290 horsepower and 325 lb.-ft. of torque – with 90 percent of torque available from 1500 rpm to 5200 rpm. It also incorporates Displacement on Demand (DOD) technology, which debuted in 2005 GM extended midsize SUVs equipped with the Vortec 5.3L V-8 (LH6) engine.

The LS6 is an LS1 with better flowing heads, a more aggressive cam, better intake/exhaust manifolds, & different block material
The LS2 is just a bored LS6.
And yes, all Gen 3 & 4 SBCs have 6 bolt mains.
LS1/LS6 = Gen 3
LS2/LS7/LS4 = Gen 4

The 04 CTS-Vs came with the LS6, not the LS1.
