LS1 handeling comparison?

i may try this in the "road race/autox" forum too...but i figured since it was ls1 specific i'd try here too...

as far as i know the ls1 equipped fbody has all the same suspension as the lt1 equipped cars...

but is there a difference in handling when cornering?

i realize the ls1 brakes are better, which could also result in more/less unsprung weight...does this affect cornering in stock form?

and how about the difference in weight between the iron block lt1 and the alum. block ls1? does that balance the car better? make it more nimble in the curves?

thanks guys

I'll have to come down sometime and let you drive the SS. I've been wanting to do some more barrel fishing. I can help you make that baby handle too.

The Suspension Technologies 35mm Front Sway Bar was by far the biggest bang for the buck improvement I made. The springs wer a close 2nd. If looks are added into bang for buck equations the springs probably take the lead. Both mods were less than $175.

The stock DeCarbons suck, plain and simple. LS1 F-bodies can handle. Here is some BMW and Porsche track kills shot from my old '98 Z28 1LE. The only mods were: LoudMouth, brake pads, Kuhmo tires and a 5-point harness.

God! I love watching your movies Chuck. Still getting a lot of cornering with all that body lean. You can watch the horizon in the corners and see just how much you were getting. Still looked like it was doing pretty good though. I need a roll bar so I can do track days too.

chuck

i'm seriously looking into some springs, although with the ground fx i don't know if it's a good idea. i'm liking the DMS or the BMR which advertise a 1" drop, instead of the 1.5 that i seem to hear from the eibachs.

as for swaybars, i already have a set of BMR 32/21mm solid bars w/ poly bushings waiting to be swapped on from my 96. so that department should be covered. and i agree, they made a huge improvement on my old car...expecting the same from this car

thanks guys

I have DMS springs with ground effects and it gave me just under a 1.5" drop. I don't really have any problems with them unless I go up a steep driveway to fast. You can see a picture here
