LS1 Gas mileage

I'm trying to get an idea what kind of gas mileage these LS1's get, especially with mods so I can make a cost/benifit anaysis against LT1's.

If you could fill out the following and make it bold:

Gas mileage: ** hwy / ** city
Horsepower/Torque: *** rwhp (or crank but specify) *** torque
Gearing: *.**
Transmission: ******* (Model and if its Auto/Manual(5 speed/6))
Approx $$ spent on mods: $**** (US dollars please)

Below that not in bold if you want to, and if you could if it's not in your signature what mods you did and any additional comments. Also for $$ spent, if you got it for free or off sponsership add approx what those parts would cost ebay/new.

Thank you, estimations are fine but try not to beef up your ego.

Re: LS1 Gas mileage

Gas mileage: 22-23 avg. 65% highway/35% city, most of the time no lead foot, but I do get on it once in a while.
Horsepower/Torque: never dynoed it
Gearing: 3.23
Transmission: 4L60E
Approx $$ spent on mods: $81 for the muffler in sig. + $106 for installation and two new outlet pipes.

Last night I went to the 1/4-mile track for the first time ever. Made 3 generous passes at just under 1/4 tank of gas. Even with those passes at the track, I got 21.67 MPG on that tank. MPG was a BIG issue for me, and that's why I got an LS1. They're really good on gas, as are most GM vehicles.

Do you guys have seperate MPG estimates for Highway and city independently? Thats kind of what I was going for but someone started off with percentages and the trend continued.

My car gets awesome highway mileage. It gets 28 to 30 MPG highway driving, and in the city about 17 to 20. If I drive it HARD it gets maybe 12.

Well I don't know how you guys get such good gas mileage on these things..

I get 15 avg in city, 25 on all highway... grant it I have somewhat of a lead foot in city, but not all the time, so where do you guys get the 23+ mpg numbers?

I don't know my gear ratio or all that jazz

its a 99 SS stock though

The most accurate way is to fill up, reset trip meter, drive a while, fill it up again. Gallons used to fill up divided by miles on the trip meter. I tried to estimate my MPG at first but the camaro tanks are so bizzare they'd be off a bit.
