Question LS1 in a first generation Camaro?

Hello,

I was wondering if anyone has ever tried putting an LS1 in a first generation camaro? With the gas prices going up im seriously thinking about putting an LS1 in my old camaro. Does anyone know of any material I can get on doing this? Any info would be great.

Thanks
Aaron

www.ls1tech.com and scroll down to the Cnnversions&Hybrids forum. There's quite a few guys doing first gen swaps. I'm putting one in my '70 Corvette right now.

LS1 conversion

I saw a '67 (might have been '68) Camaro within the past couple of years that had it done in one of the magazines. It was a purpleish blue colored Camaro. Very good looking install. I believe he got all corvette running gear/brakes too including the front suspension. I rekon it had to be a camaro tranny though..... and probably pre '97 vette running gear.

I would bet a '67 with a aluminum LS1 and a T56 would be several hundred pounds lighter from a '98 up camaro LS1 T56. That should really make the old car haul @ss.

Back in 97/98 when the motor first came out, there was a 67 running around with a LS1/t-56 in it. Best part, it had all the right canyon carver parts in it to run 12's, and pull damn near a G on the skidpad. I cant find the link now... it was red/white. Downside... I think the owner spent over 100k getting it all setup

Still the shock on everyones face when a 67 rolls out on a roadcourse and hands everything from Supra's to M3's their *** might be worth it
