LS1 f-body suspension

hey guys i couldn't see a specific forum for suspension so i figured this would be ok.

i once had a dream to get a vette for the great all around car that it is. well that dream will have to wait due to the financial decisions a college student faces but it isn't all bad. after fighting off pleas from friends to get a big turbo car (300ZX or VR4) i've come to the conclusion that the F-body is the way to go so long as i can make it handle like a ****.

i hate sloppy steering/suspension so if/when i get an LS1 f-body what mods would be most suitable for making it a much more stable car in the corners?

thanx for the info fellas.

p.s. this stuff isn't too far off, i'm awaiting tickets to fall of my driving record before i make my insurance company dig up info on me.

The usual suspension bolt-on's are enough to tighten up the handling of an F-Body. Springs, shocks, APHR, LCA's. Check out Dynamic Motorsports annd speak with Eric. He's a friend of mine and has killer deals on F-Body suspension components.

Shocks are the first thing you should consider. Bilsten HD's are fine, and Strano revalved Bilsteins are Better. Koni's freaking rule but are pricey.

Next on the agenda should be the front sway bar. A 32mm "1LE" bar is a popular part that is inexpensive. Many others like the 35mm ST var. I have yet to try one.

Tires are the best handling mod you can do to any car. There is more grip to be gained from tires than ANYTHING you can bolt or weld to the car. I use and really like the Nitto 555RII on all four corners.

Subframe connectors and shock tower braces are overrated for handling mods. While they will barely affect handling if any, they will help keep the unit body tight for a long time.

From there, springs, lower control arms, panhard bar and a torque arm are popular and good mods. Stay away from poly/poly as they tend to bind. poly/rod end LCA's & PHB are fine. I have the LG Motorsports lightweight aluminum LCA's & PHB and really like them. The LG torque arm is also a cery nice part. Spring choice is rather personal, and should be discussed with your shock vendor. Call Sam Strano or Lou Gigliotti and they will be happy to suggest an awesome handling setup.

All of my mods are listed on my website, and I am very happy with the handling. There is nothing like passing 911's and M3's on a road course in an F-body

thats the exact answer i was lookin for. and when it comes to pricey and best VS ok and cheap i'll take pricey any day. as for tires, i'll probably be running drag radial's 24/7. i'm not buyin a T/A cause its a luxury ride so i dont mind i its not quite cushy on rough roads.

thanx for the info.
