LS1 Engine Swap Success Stories?
Taking the LS1 out of my 00 ss vert and swaping it with, well I havn't decided. Anyone have a success story for engine swaps with a camaro they'd like to share? I'm looking to put possibly a LS7 in if it will work.

If you have the money for an LS7 then you probably shouldnt be driving just a camaro... But yes its very possible. Any reason why you dont want to spend the thousands of extra dollars building a rock solid 600hp beast ls1?

I don't mind spending the extra money on the LS7. I was really close to buying a ZL1 back when GMMG make the stage 3 with the C5R 427. But for over 100K, I figured I could duplicate one for a lot less. And why would I want any other car than a camaro. I'd take pure muscle over any foreign job any day. I know the LS1 is a great engine and can produce a lot of power, but wouldn't the LS7 be much stronger if I want to reach the 700 hp mark? I'm not an expert on car mechanics but I do know "there is no replacement for displacement."

yea, I'm just not a big fan of adding turbos or superchargers. call me old school but I'll take a big motor and even add a blower before I'd get turbos/superchargers. Nothing wrong with them, love the sound, but true muscle is all about size. If I can make the power from the LS1 I will, but I just figured a larger block would be easier and less apt to run into problems from the power. What kind of hp are we looking at in order to get into the 10's? Dont worry about drivetrain and suspension. I'm more interested in the engine right now.

The only reason you would spend the money on an LS7 is bragging rights, just so you could cay you have one. But if thats what you want, then dont let us stand in your way. Since money doesnt seem to be that big of an hurdle, I would probably go with a stroked LS2, you can find these shortblocks or longblocks for what I beleive to be a descent price, and these swaps are already happening, I wanna say it'll bolt right in, but dont hold me to it, I havent looked into it any myself.
The other option is to build and LS1, in which case a stroker is still the only way to go, BUT a 6.0L iron block is mandatory for strength purposes. And no matter what you decide you should consider a forced induction application. If you plan on hittin 700hp a FI power adder will help keep engine stress and wear to a minimum, until you're sandwiching the pedal between your foot and the floor-board.
Late Model Engines and Victory Racing Engines (site sponsor) both can get you set up with what your looking for to suit your needs. (damn, that sounded like an advertisement didnt it?) But that just the first two that come to mind at the moment.
Also dont forget that you can make alot less power than that and you still need to spend a good amount of money on the drivetrain you'll be puttin the power through so it doesnt break, because it will. Suspension will also become mandatory.

only success storie i got is withn the ls1 swap i did on my clean low mile 93 camaro. the lt1 383 tossed a rod out the pan. figured a ls1 swap was in order. got a new crate ls1, ls1 k member , harness, ls1 t56 and went to work. did all my mods and bolt ons before i put the package together. plugged everything in. crossed all my fingers. sure enough started on the first crank. was the best sound i heard in a while lol . check my sig for the pics

So what exactly is the C5R motor that was put into the ZL1 camaro a few years ago? Was that the LS6?
I was told the C5R was built for the vette to run at Le Mans and it was a 427. I was also told I could not buy a C5R motor. So I guess my question would be which chevy motor puts out the most power, the C5R, LS7, LS6, or something I dont know about?
AND since everyone seems to say I can build out the LS2 to more than 427 can the same be done with my current LS1? I thought there wasnt much of a change from the 1 to the 2. If I do that, what kind of power will I see?
I just want a big friggin engine cause I like the sound and feel, but would like to stay with a GM product. My friend just bought one of those v12, twin turbo, money out the *** mercedes sl65 and he's pissin me off!!!
