LS1 conversion
LS1 conversion
what's up everyone? what all is involved in putting an LS1 motor into a 93' z-28 or a 95' camaro? has anyone done this and if so, with what kind of results? what has to be done in order for this to be done? your feedback is much appreciated. thanks.

Re: LS1 conversion
If you don't already know, you'll have to replace both the motor and the tranny. Other than that and the wiring, I don't see it being too hard of an endevor. I know a few people have put them in 3rd gens, so you might want to ask them. Other than that, look into any size differences.
You'll also need the radiator out of a LS1 car.

I have a friend that did an LT1 swap into his 94 Firebird...
There is a lot of work. He replaced the Motor, Trans, Rear End, Fuel System, Console (A4 ~ M6), Brakes, Dash Cluster, etc... Etc....
Just buy an LS1, or build the existing 93 LT1 to smack around an Stock/Mild LS1
Re: LS1 conversion
you would also need to replace hood...to my knowledge the LS1 will not fit under a stock LT1 style hood....it's not worth the swap, there's too much involved....even if you swap motor, tranny and computer, there's still suspension, brakes etc....

Also the K-member is different.
Don't think it's going to be faster, or cheaper, if you are fine with that, then go for it.
When I had my a4 LT1 car, everyone said that I was crazy for swapping out the a4 for a m6. I did it anyway, and never regretted it. Would it have been faster as an a4? yes. Would it have been cheaper to rebuild the a4? yes. Did I want an a4? no.. Now I autocross and road race, m6 is better. Just do your homework before tearing into it.
