No, LS1's are not reverse flow.

I remember reading the following somewhere:

LS1's cool the heads last which means the it is not reverse flow. In the LT1's it is just the opposite where the heads are cooled first, hence the reverse flow.

Thanks! I was wondering because I wanted to take a non-production iron block like a Merlin or World Products, and outfit it with LS-1 accessories. You can't do that with LT-1 blocks. I want to build a custom motor to drop in my 95 3.4L. I don't want to simply buy a used LS-1, $$$$. The block would be the first purchase. Then crank, rods, pistons, cam, heads, etc. The 302 SEMA Camaro uses a different block, 4.8L truck crank to achieve 302 ci. Something similar is what I am aiming for.

You cant..

The LS1 only uses GEN III SB parts.

The older SBC stuff does not interchange. The 302 LS1 was a iron version of the ls1. Which you can get out of the new trucks.

How durable are the stock aluminum blocks? Can it handle everbore well? If I make a 383/409 stroker out of it? I know it's been done. Would this route be easier than a custom block? I am just searching for options as of now.

if you want to run this thing in that '95 you will be much better off financially and have alot less hassles if you just bought a engine/trans/harness from a 98+ f-body.
what your talking about is going to add up to a huge amount of money by the time you get all your wires and lines in the car.
the LS1 block is good for around 800hp and then the crank begins to move around in the block. madman said a few things about this a while back.
