Angry New track times...bitter sweet!

Just got back from Bradenton motorsports. My first run sucked and I did a 3-2 down shift...oops. the good news there: I realized it and didn't fully engage the clutch, no dammage, but the time was 14.2. Next run....i ran 13.9, 13.7 and 13.6. Here is the kicker: My trap speed ranged from 102-104.5. I know the car is capable of more.....see dyno #s in sig. I put the stock MAF back on a while ago and de-screaned it then re-set the computer. I am still getting pinging . I used fuel injector cleaner, octane boost and 93 octane gas. it was about 80 and not too humid. I did see a 2001 ram air with a lid/cat-back and 6-speed (same set up as mine) run a 13.5@104.5. I thiought this was low for that, also, so maybee it wasn't sooooo bad, as my best trap was 104.2. i thik I'm losing power from slight pinging and my screen is destroyed....time for Diablo? i know I was off.
Anyways, the good news, my last run after a 30-min cool down was 13.39@103.1. The trap sucks but my 60 foot was getting better to 2.1 and the time was finally respectable. Now, if i could just get this pinging solved, I should be trapping 107-108. Anyways that's my story.

Oh, I did beat a 1994 LT1 TA with gears, headers, cat back and an auto. I trapped 5-mph higher, so I guess my car is healthy, just not optimal! Any quick detonation fixes?

I'd be happy with the time you got............I went twice this year --- once completely stock, then once after the lid & filter, but my absolute best run was only a 14.008 @ 102.99?! I was really disappointed in the time, since I thought an LS1 was almost "guaranteed" a 13.xx with a good launch (and I did cut a 2.1 60' time )............but I think the night I went after getting the new lid/filter, it was very humid, so that wouldn't have helped things.

I guess your trap speed may be a little low (especially considering your car runs .8 seconds quicker than mine, yet only went .2 mph faster?? ). I suppose that's where the "quick" vs "fast" thing comes into play?? Since you've got the M6 and lower gears, your car is "quicker" down the track, but my car with the 2.73's is theoretically going "faster" in comparison, even though it's "slower"..............you get what I mean??

Nonetheless................good times..........congrats!

I just wish my traps were higher....perhapps colder weather will solve that. I neeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeed to get rid of the pinging, I just removed the screen, on the MAF, and didn't think it would lean it out!

Are you still running that home ported MAF, that is going to lean you out. You'll need a maft or some other way to add more fuel and richen that mixture. The screen won't do d!ck.

Thanx for replying....I put the original MAF back on, which is NOT PORTED, and just removed the screen. I don't know why I'm getting pinging, I re-set the computer. I may need the diablo or something, but I don't want to pay 100 dollars per hour for dyno tuning.
