Lowered my TA , now it rubs...why?
Lowered my TA , now it rubs...why?
Guys,
I wanted to get your opinion on something.
Last week installed a set of Goldline 2 inch lowering coils on my car.... www.goldlineonline.com
The springs ride quality is awesome to be that low.
Now the problem is...
When I make a left or right tun while on the brakes the front end rubs. I looked in the fender well and can see exactly where it is hitting. It rubs above the tire on the inside top on the black plastic wheel well molding.
My question is, can I cut out a section of the plastic or remove it all together?
How do I get around this because it is driving me absolutely freaking nuts.
This is also with the factory 245/50/16 tires.
I have BFG DR 255/50/16 on the rear and was rubbing on the inside there until I took the BFH and bashed in the spot where it rubbed. I recoated the body and put the wheels back on and it is great now.
My only problem now is the front.
Let me know how you solved this.
Thanks
Mike

do you have a heavy *** stereo? i Did the same thing and the extra weight of the stereo ripped the rear end apart, so I left the stock height in the back and have the front lowered with the eibach's and now the car looks about even, with the rear end a tad bit higher it looks mean as hell.
i would say take them back, they shouldn't rub if everything is stock. that is crap. my car has been lowered that much and has settled and my tires have never once rubbed no matter how hard i have turne in and been on the brakes.
maybe you need new shocks though. i bet they tell you that if you try to take them back.....

Nothing should be rubbing at all. That said I looked at Goldlines site. It says their kit lowers it 1.5 inches not 2. I hope whoever installed the kit left the spacers on in the rear at least. My question to you is why buy a set of springs from a company that makes springs mainly for ricers??? Theres tons of quality spring companies out there thatt Id have looked at 1st. Not that it matters much to me because I had my stock springs cut and Im happy with the way my car rides and handles.

The fix is to add more spring rate (new springs) and/or shock damping and/or raise the suspension a bit.
I had the exact same problem - I fixed it on my car by raising the static ride hieght .25" (w/adjustable perches) and adjusting the front shocks slightly stiffer.
