Question low dyno #'s??? (ChrisLS1Bird - check this out) and others too.

all the mods and #'s are in the sig.

I did dyno with a broken tranny mount. And when they hooked up the exhaust sensor to the tailpipes, i failed to mention my cutout was open.

I've seen a lot of other cars with less mods (still A4s) dyno more power.

For example ChrisLS1Birds' #'s are really sweet, same year, less mods.
What gives?

i've seen 98 and 99 LS1 A4s with less mods than I have dyno in the 320's

thats what I don't understand. Less mods = 20rwhp more than me?

It isn't really that big of a difference. I've dyno'd higher than some bone stock 01' models and mine is pretty much stock with the exception of a strut tower brace.

Every LS1 is different.

Honestly, those numbers are right on for your car with those mods. Those are not bad numbers at all. You're lightly modded and a solid 300rwhp. I've seen guys with the same stuff dyno less.

Btw, what type of dyno? Mustang or Dynojet? Keep in mind that not all dynos give the same numbers, so it is tough to compare. I dyno'd at one shop and got 322 rwhp, and at another shop 312. Same type of dyno, just different tolerances.

Also, in theory, if you did have a broken tranny mount, there could be enough movement to caus e the knock sensors to retard timing. However, I really don't think this is the case, based on your #s.

Hey there

I think, like everybody said that these numbers are not too bad.
I think u should invest in some headers and maybe heads and cam pakage.

The numbers vary. I was told for sure with a cutout, filter, and lid I wouldn't break 300rwhp because I had a 98 A4, the "slow year".

314rwhp, 327rwtq with just those mods. It varies, and you still have a nice car. Don't worry about it

well its more reassuring now. Thanks.

I saw those 320 numbers the same day I did mine.

A NBM 99 Z28 went on the dyno 3 cars after me. And yes it was a dynojet. All he had were lid and hooker muffler. ( and the ugliest yellow seats SFC's and brake callipers I've ever seen!)
He dynoed 320.7 rwhp and 332.1 rwtq. His car is an automatic. This is why i though mine was low, cuz i was there, with more mods.

Do you think his car was a "factory freak"?

Thanks guys

What's up?

320 rwhp in an auto with just those mods (muffler, lid, yellow seats) doesn't normally happen. Maybe he had some other stuff done, too. If not, he's got an exceptional LS1.

Just for clarification: my Formula's M6, not A4. I'm not sure if you knew that or not. It did 323 rwhp, which is decent for an LS1 with those mods. I don't buy the "weak/slow '98" thing at all. I don't even know how that got started...'98s were fast and nasty when introduced and still are. They're LS1s...and they were the first to spring the surprise on everyone.

So, it looks like you've added about 20 rwhp with those mods. I wouldn't expect anything from that hypertech. Don't be down..you haven't really done anything yet.

I think you should be able to run around a 13.2@105 with the power you've got now, at a decent strip. Give it another shot. If that's not enough, drop a cam in and stop worrying about a few hp.

I think mine is a bit of a freak. I was hoping for 310 or better and did 330 rwhp. I still think I'm getting a couple from the LS6 block. Other than than, just a lid, muffler, P&P TB, and a couple of other incidentals. I got psychocabbage numbers.
