Re: LOUDEST Exhuast

Are you trying to anoy others or do you want power and figure a louder exhaust will get you more power?

For just plain loud, install a cutout. For loud and power, LT headers with Y pipe into a loudmouth system.

Re: LOUDEST Exhuast

LT's, Xpipe w/ Dumps.... Ask Teke about Muff's. He experimented w/ a couple.

Absolute loud, but in no way street legal, LT and cut outs at the collector...

another option, LT's ORY and Loud Mouth. Loud and Annoying.

Re: LOUDEST Exhuast

I think this is actually the reason why some people resent our cars and cringe when they realize the new neighbor has a Z28.

Anyway, some turn downs right off your header collectors will be plenty loud, it'll actually be too loud, but it is the "loudest". If that's not loud enough, then take the turn downs off- it'll get even louder.

It would literally be loud enough to give you NIHL (noise induced hearing loss).

"LT's ORY, and a Xpipe w/ Dumps"

i'd like to see that rigged up

i think you meant LT's, Xpipe w/ dumps

as for which gives more hp...i've heard the scavaging affect of the Xpipe yeilds more power...but in all honesty...it's probably too small of a variation to be accurately measured. since no car dyno's the exact same number consistently.

you'd have to do probably 10 runs with each and do and average to get anywhere close to a legitimate result. and who has that much dyno time?

Re: LOUDEST Exhuast

oh by the way...here is a before and after comparison video of my cammed LS1

first one is LTs, 3" xpipe, straight pipes dumped at the axle, second is with 4x9" magnaflow straight through mufflers dumped.

camera was not moved from one to the next...you can even hear the "ding" of the door alarm...to give you an idea of how quiet the mufflers make the car...or for that matter how LOUD the straight pipes are

....D'OH!!.... yes, that's what I meant. My bad...

That would be interesting!..

And MasterZ28, you should concider exhaust drone. Will it bee too loud and anoying at cruise, or is this a garage/trailer queen?

You can to the ultimate LOUDEST EXH possible, but I guarantee, give it 6 months, you'll get sick of it. -If you don't, I guess you really like *L*O*U*D* exhausts...

Re: LOUDEST Exhuast

I have a TSP Rumbler, and I love it. It's not the loudest you could say, but it is pretty loud. I was actually considering on going quieter, like maybe a hooker and then install a cutout so it can be loud when I want it to be, but I would probably just run it all the time with the cut out open so it would defeat the purpose. I dont like to "sneak" around in my car, I like everyone to know when im around.

Re: LOUDEST Exhuast

I've got a Hooker muffler after Jet Hot LTs and a Y pipe. It's pretty reasonable at idle, but get into it at ALL, it's awesome. That's what I'd suggest to do. LEt people know there's something there when it's just idling, but don't go nuts... Anything over 2.25K is awesome sounding.. I had an Eclipse GT run after me after I passed hjim at maybe 30% gas from a light...

And yes, I proceeded to run and beat him (actually, a her.)

Re: LOUDEST Exhuast

You could always run straight headers with the collectors flared out like the end of a megaphone. That'll probably be the loudest. Unfortunately, you'll need to get an open-loop tune for your PCM as the O2 sensors will be useless. Get some true duals for your headers and you won't be disappointed. However, I'd recommend that you don't run straight pipe. You won't be able to hold a conversation with anyone riding in your car if you do. It was hard enough with the bullets on my x-pipe.
