loud mouth

Re: loud mouth
a loudmouth is a separate exhaust that you can buy (aftermarket)
some go the cheap and efficient way and take a dynomax bullet muffler (dynomouth) or the slp resonator (loudmouth) and welding it after their cat or in place of their cat
they then take the stock muffler off and somehow weld the tips back to the i-pipe i believe
and no, hp is only gained
the thing is with opening up flow, it moves the torque higher up in the powerband (while also gaining some)
that's why you "feel" slower but are actually faster

Re: loud mouth
Actually, the cats have nothing to do with it. You just place a single resonator or a bullet muffler or twister or chambered stick muffler in your I-pipe AFTER your Y-pipe not in place of your cats. The closer to the Y-pipe you get it, the less rasp. After the big bend over the rear, you place a Y and run one pipe out each side of the rear w/the tips of your choice. Look at the TSP rumbler set up. That'll give you an idea.

You will lose no HP as stated. Some people attribute a loss of low end torque to larger exhaust pipes because of lack of back pressure but that is a myth. It is the loss of velocity and uncorrected tuning issues caused by the new free flow that may show a drop in torque.

Re: loud mouth
Get the TSP Rumbler. I just put mine on Thursday and it sounds SWEET. Very deep around town and very "alive" on the highway, but whenever you let off the gas around town, it will go almost quiet. It's 2/3 the price of the LoudMouth and sounds a lot better.

Re: loud mouth
i was just suggesting he could replace the cat with a resonator, etc. (didn't have to, could put it in the i-pipe like you stated if he wants)
thanks though for pointing out how else he could do it

Cut-out Sounds SWEET!!!! and Its pretty quiet at Idle but sets off every ricers cheap alarm in the parking garage at work! Try one $27shipped $30 install. if you dont like it cap it and forget it.

Re: loud mouth
well just my .02, loud is usually good, but quality is better. I herd a loudmouth the other day and it really sounded horrible. It sounded like a bus with no muffler. So i would advise against it, sorry if I offended anyone.........

Re: loud mouth
This is what I can imagine..
Put a "bullet muffler" on your ipipe..
put a cutout behind your axle, right before you muffler if possible..
The bullet muffler shouldn't impede flow too much at all, and IMO, sounds better than the SLP "resonator" (i did this on my loudmouth)
Uncorking the cutout would basically give you the loudmouth sound.
Then if you want it quiet, close the cutout.
or you could put the cutout right after the ypipe... may be a bit louder..

forgot which forum i was in and what car i was talking about
yea, then ideally it would be the most sensible thing to put the resonator, bullet after the cats
for some reason i was thinking single cat and just replacing it like you could do on a 93-95
sorry about that, thanks for the correction
