Angry Loud Driveline noise...Whats wrong???

I went up north this weekend, and now my car is making a really loud noise. It sounds like normal gear whine when im going steady or accel, but it rubs and sounds like metal on metal when i decelerate. whats wrong? only when i slow down or let off the gas while moving. it doesnt liik like my drive shaft is rubbing, but i did just have motive 4.10's installed about 3000 miles ago. Could it be bad u-joints, loose/bad torque arm mount, bad trans mount, or bad axle bearings? when i go to stop it was grinding and jumping it was rubbing so bad... thanks for any help or suggestions.

I had something similar a couple of weeks ago. It was a metallic rubbing sound during low speed turns and sometimes when decelerating. It sounded like it was coming from the rear diff but the sound transmitted all along the driveline so sometimes it sounded like it was coming from tranny mount area. It turns out the dealership I took it to when having the rear differential serviced forgot to add the posi-lube additive. I could hear the sound immediately after having the car serviced but it was minor and I couldn't take it back the same week. The sound kept getting worse and worse. I really thought something broke in there. I had them re-service it and made sure they added the posi-lube; the sound went away. I'd try that first. Maybe when you put the 4.10s in you forgot about the additive.

I actually too it in last night, and theyre already done with it. My guy at RC Trans and Gear (they do top-notch work!), drove it about 2 buildings and lknew what it was. the bolt had somehow backed off the pinion. and he took it apart to make sure the gear set was good, and said he would replace it if it was bad. all i ask for is the truth, good work, and customer service. these guys take good care of their customers.

I have a minor rear end sound going on too. And I had a rear pinion seal replaced a few months ago. However, it's so subtle I can't tell if it's just me or if something is boiling up back there. My question is, would custom LCA's void the warranty? I put some BMR's on a few weeks ago.

Cool

No, new lca's wont void the factory warranty. By definition, anything that can be bolted on the car wont void your warranty. The only way for them to void your warr is if the prpoblem can be proven/traced to the mod. like if your u-joints went, and you changed the pinion angle. even if you only changed it a little bit, they could void the warranty on the parts effected only...
