Looking at a 98 Z28
I seen a 98 Z28 on my local craigslist for $2900. Here is the description: "1998 z28 camaro, ls1 with borg warner 6 speed, beleive oil pan is cracked, needs new shortblock, would make perfect project car for 383 stroker, body is prety decent with only a couple dings, aftermarket tint, decent interior, 87,000 miles, cruise, power windows, locks, tilt, windshield is cracked".
I emailed the guy, he said he bought it recently at a repo auction or something. He said the previous owner bottomed out and cracked the oil pan, oil leaked out, and the engine was run dry. He said the car doesn't turn over but doesn't know if it's seized or not. He says the trans and rear diff are in good shape, along with everything else. The body and interior are in great shape too from the few pictures I have seen.
So do you guys think it would be worth it? Is the ls1 tough to replace or rebuild (never worked on one)?

I think thats a little high. Only because i saw a really nice roller on ls1tech go for 4k, 1999 camaro ss w/agreat body and paint,it was caged, nice drag wheels w/good tires and with a ford 9inch w/373gears. Also had nice racing seats with all the interior in perfect shape!! I wouldn't paid over 2k on that!!
Yeah, the only way to even consider it, would be if you already had a new motor ready to go in, and were just looking for a chassis. And even then, paying more then 2k for a roller + trans is a bit much.
