As a former F-body owner while I lived in Delaware and now living in Maine, I can safely say there is NO way I would have an F-body in the winter in Maine. I used to get stuck in 1/2" snow on a flat surface with my Z. Not trying to tell you what to do, but get ready to crap your pants every time the snow flies and probably wreck your car!!!!

You couldn't possibly still be making payments on a 94 camry, or...

Wait until you can get a car you want, AND keep your current car. Don't buy based on impulse, you can find a nice lower mileage car for just a little bit more.

anything more than 2-3 inches i'd rather drive a truck. however I was at Fort Knox for the horrible ice storm in February and I was able to get my camaro to my mom's house further to the south once i dug enough space out to get it on top of the ice. It was a stick though which IMO is much easier to regulate power to the wheels than an automatic. A lot of it depends on the driver to a certain point. once you hit that certain point though no regular car is going to get through it not without getting stuck at least. That's why I keep a truck around. plus no car is going to get to some of my fishing holes

If you do want to drive an F-body in wintry conditions, dedicated snow tires are a must. Without them, the above is exactly what you can look forward to. With them, it's tolerable.

Why are any decent Z28s beaten to crap around here?? All of them I have seen are modded and have some sort of scratch/dent/or ding. The best deal around here is that red, stock, 98 Z28 with 102K miles for 6500 cash. How much is shipping for a car usually?

Around $600-750-1000 depending on where it's shipping from.

Simple:
A)Find a car you like.
B)Find out where it is.
C)Get the owner to vouch for it and take a ton of pics.
D)Ask a ton of questions.
E)Take a one-way ticket to get it for $150.
F)Drive it home.

Save $500-650 on shipping.

Driving any more than 400 miles is just too much for me, I just don't wanna do it. Some people I know could drive all day, but I just don't want to drive more than 5 hours. I may drive 3 hours to go get that 98...the Camry was purchased with cash, wish I had somewhere to store it for Jan and Feb, then id have the Z back out. Hell, I ride my CBR every month except Feb and March in Maine.

I just purchased a 98 Z w/6spd hardtop. I picked it up for $5,000. It came with some mods as well. The 98's had a real water temp gauge in them, later ones don't. But, mine has 107,000 and it's strong as hell.

Wow, this thread is super old! I ended up buying a civic to drive around while I can look for a Z. I have yet to find a stock, LS1, 6 speed in decent condition around here.

Glad to hear about the 98 purchase! Best of luck and have fun with it!

Yo Timmy, with all the resources available to you, Autotrader,Craigslist, E-bay, Cars.com, it shouldn't be to difficult to locate exactly what you are looking for? I picked mine up on Cars.com, Red Z28,M6, with 86K for 4800 bones, he was asking 5500. The car is exactly what I was looking for except for the T-Tops, I could live with those though. Good luck in your search and keep us posted.
