Exclamation Look at this Price Difference!

I just called Magnaflow for a price on their Camaro/Firebird muffler and they quoted me $140.99 (part #12267)

http://www.magnaflow.com/02product/universal/oval.htm

This website has what appears to be the same muffler for $80.95, even the same part#.

Has anyone here bought from Exhaust Pros Linc before? I'm just wondering how same same muffler is $60 cheaper.

Yep,
I called Flowmaster corperation once and asked about a muffler for the F-body directly from them. The tech on the phone told me that I needed to get it from one of thier distributors. They usually dont sell to the public , but would if they had to. The muffler was going to run $165 from them. Now go to Jegs or Summit and check out the price.

Dont know why its that way , but it is.

Because they don't want to deal with thousands of individual customers and want to sell bigger lots to distributors. Usually less hassle for them. Everything is invoiced, no need to process credit card orders etc. etc.

Distributors also usually buy bigger lots or have otherwise negotiated better prices so they can sell them cheaper to the end user than the manufacturer.

Thumbs up

Thanks for the info. guys.

Now I have two more questions:

I would need to order the muffler with the 3" inlet and the 2.5" outlets, correct? #12267
http://www.exhaustproslinc.com/magcammuf.html

I also want to have my stock Z28 tips rewelded on my car. Will the exhaust tips on a car effect the sound at all? I was going to get a set of dual-outlet tips, but I decided to keep my stock ones because I think they look better, would there be any sound difference between the two behind the Magnaflow muffler?

Can't really help you with the part numbers...

As far as the sound vs. tips goes, I can say that when I had my LT1, I first had a Flowmaster muffler w/OEM tips and when I changed them to the round SS tips, the sound was a lot quieter.
