Lifter Noise

how common is it for ls1's to make lifter noise?

Is it lifter noise or piston slap?/ Fine line.. One's a low thumping kind of, the other is a ticking..

With OHV engines, it's normal. When it gets LOUD, then there's something to be concerned about.. Like over revving a stock valve train = bent pushrods = Valve tick..

It only does once in a great while but just curious if if was something i needed to address this moment or could wait until the new cam and pushrods, lifters, valvesprings etc. go in

Most lifter noise in these engines is due to a failed oil pump pickup O-ring, and not a failed lifter. GM issued a TSB for this problem.
