Lid & Free Ram Mod

New to the LS1 & looking to mod up a little. If I do the free Air Ram mod, do I need to do a lid too? Does the mod make the lid unnecessary?

Re: Lid & Free Ram Mod

I am at work, so I cannot get a pic, but I am positive it is the stock lid. Does modding the stock lid eliminate the need for a whisper/slp lid?

I hope that someone that knows more than I do will post. If your lid is the one with the baffles on both sides than changing it will help if not than there isn't much to b gained from a lid change.

Re: Lid & Free Ram Mod

It has the baffles...if those are the "black boxes" on the sides. But, I also just realized that the free air mod more deals with the air filter tray than the lid, so I supposed doing both would be beneficial. Thanks man, there is a lot to learn, but it sure is fun!!

Re: Lid & Free Ram Mod

there are 2 major differences between the stock lid and the slp. the first is the baffles. those you can remove from the stock one. the second is those resonators, as well as a severe narrowing of the duct around that area. not much you can do about that on a stock one. id recommend leaving the stock one alone, since itd make the car easier to sell eventually, and getting an slp lid.
