Lid Fitment

I was wondering which lid to buy that doesn't have fitment problems. Ive heard the SLP one rubs and doesn't get a good seal. I have a buddy whose aftermarket lid won't stay clipped down. I want it to fit good, and not worry about when I pop the hood will it be clipped down still or not.

That sounds more like a filter issue than a LID issue as even the stock LID's will have trouble closing if the filter is incorrectly seated... Make sure the proms on the back of the lid are properly seated into the slots they go in at the back BASE (part thats attached to the car) of the lid aswell otherwise it still won't close right... - Tell your friend to take his filter out of the lid completely and then close it and clip it... if it clips correctly and easily then it's the filter thats causing the problem... not the LID...

When the clips pop off, it's usually user error (i.e. not installed properly). Check filter as mentioned above. Also on the SLP lids, the front of the upper lid tucks in and behind the lower portion where the clips are. It's a common mistake not to tuck it in, which causes the clips to pop off.

I have a Whisper, and it has served me quite well. Doing my research, I've found a lid is a lid. Buy the cheapest one you can find, and make sure you follow the directions. A few early batches of SLPs rubbed but I'm almost positive they worked that out. Whispers have the popping off issue, but thats because people don't pay attention and don't put the lid INSIDE the airbox, like they're supposed to do.

I'm on my 3rd lid. My current one is a SLP and it has the best fitment and quality so far...

I went with a Direct Flow lid 7 years ago. Fitment is great and it's lasted all this time with no cracking or other problems.
