Keep The Ss!?!?!?

OK, help me out here.. I am seriously concidering ditching my SS and saving for a Z06 Vette...!!! I know its a huge jump in price, but gawd do I love Vettes... I need some suggestions here.. It would be a hell of a lot cheaper to tune this SS up and throw some visual effects on it...

what do you guys think?

I was also thinking of maybe like a '77 vette and throwing some adons to that?!?!?

-'99 SS stock

Ha, I probably cant swing it, but I would be willing to live pay check to paycheck to get one... gawd damn those things are nice... I have always wanted a vette, but never really thought about it seriously untill I got my SS and learned to love the power of these things... now I want the power and the glory!!?!?! I am at an impass!!!

for 4k more you can get twice the car so the C5 is a waste unless you don't car about speed and just looks

Well, I do like speed, but its the whole package I am looking for.. I know I could make this thing a hell of a lot faster than the stock Z06, but its the whoel vette package that I love, and the SS will never be a Vette.. thats for sure... How many horses can I add and what kind of a paint job can I get for about 5k?

well..... on the SS a NICE paintjob will be around 3,000 so thats 2k for go fast mods.

for 2k you can get a new
clutch (spec 3)
cam
headers (pacesetter)
spray
pro 5.0 shifter
stickier street tires
and have about 200 for a spare rear end if you get to wild on the launch

thats good for an 11 second car with a HIGH trap speed (good highway runner)

^ all that is if you have a manual

I was thinking it was more of a compromise between the Z06 and the SS. I don't think he really wants to end up going paycheck for paycheck on a Z06, so he could find a 98-99 C5 for a decent price, toss a little into modifications, and be happy.

The C5 really has nothing on the SS though unless it has the Z51 suspension package. Speedwise a C5 vs SS race is all driver they aren't that fast. But if you do get a ZO6 make sure to get one of the newer 405HP ones. I have ridden in both and the 385HP earlier ZO6's just don't impress me.

I had a choice between a 01 ZO6 and my 00 SS and I took the SS

#1- Insurance
#2- A back seat
#3- ZO6's are really cool but my F-Body roots run deep
#4- Ther is a possiblity that my car may see light snow

yeah, if I get one, it would be an '03... its quite pricey... but its nice as hell...

Payments would be about 900 or so.. I am paying 360 now for my SS.. quite a price change

for that 600 bones a month I could do quite a bit on my SS eh? or buy a 78 Vette and supe that beast up?!?

My friends dad has one (A 03 ZO6) and it handles amazing. That would be the biggest difference I belive between the 2. Plus u could just always give me your SS.

DON'T DO IT. I was going to do the exact same thing. While Z06s are bad *** no doubt, its not worth the money unless you can afford it. Pay check to pay check is not what I'm talking about. What about insurrance and GAS. A car like that is meant to be driven. There will always be Vettes, mod your SS or save for a Z06 for 2yrs. $600 X 12 = 7200 X 2 = 14000, If you find a 2003 Z06 2 yrs from now with low miles, and trade your SS in for about 8k that gives you 22k and the vette will prob be down to 40-35k. And all that leaves you with 18-13k loan. Much easier to swallow, and ur insurrance will be lower too. Even for someone in their late 40s a vettes insurrance cans still run 100 a month. Just my .02. The SS is a bad *** car too by the way.

the newer z06's got revised shocks too... and revised ratios in the tranny for less rpm drops and I believe shorter rear gear too (I think its almost equivalent of f-bod's having 4.10's in the 1st gear)

I'd love to get a C5, but it would stretch me out a little more than I want financially.. but its doable, esepcially if I can get at least kelly blue book value on my car.
