Just installed alternator; now low idle and low charge

The battery is a year old and I don't think it's bad. The alternator is BRAND new and yes I connected both the pin connector back and the ground screw (or whatever that thing is). This car's driving me crazy. Please help.

Alright, alright. It has since magically fixed itself. I guess it saw me pull the sledge hammer out of the shed.

Idle is fine now but (if you can still help) see my newer post if you think you can help me solve the original problem.

Anytime that you unhook the battery for any length of time the computer resets and will have to relearn the idle.
There is an idle relearn proceedure on LS1.com in the free mods section.
