Iron 6.0 vs LS6?

I am getting ready to put a new engine in my camaro as I have gone past 150,000 miles on my stock 99 LS1 and I am ready for more power. I already plan on using a set of TSP CNC ported LS6 heads, and a MS3 cam. I have a freshly built 2004 LS6 short block with forged pistons, and all ARP bolts,I also have a rebuilt stock 2003 iron 6.0 short block with all ARP hardware ect, basicly same as the LS6 just without the forged pistons. Which would make more power? Would the extra cubes be worth the weight of the iron block? I will use the same heads and cam just torn on which short block. Thanks for any help.

Tough call. I think if you plan on EVER running a power adder you should stick to the forged slugs. If you are going NA for life, grab the extra cubes. It is only like 80 lbs or something. Just swap to a tubular K-Member at the time you do the engine swap and it will be a wash.

Easy.

You won't see too much of a difference until you start playing with the heads/cam. Use the forged motor and have fun with it. If something ever happens to it, build the iron block motor into a nasty stroker

Hey Kraest,I was just wondering any particular reason you got rid of the 97 with the 408 engine. It would have been hard for me to sell something that made N/A over 500 Horsepower.Im in the same kind of thing right now.Just the car Im selling is a 1st Generation Big Block 69 Camaro.I think that it gets somewhere around 425 Horsepower but the gas mileage is quite horrible.

It made around 625-650 horsepower NA. 530 is to the wheels.

I sold it because I had a little one and needed a car with a back seat.

There's a video of it here:
